My Dearest Alana,
Happy birthday, sweet Selna. I wish, more than anything, that I had a gift for you on this auspicious day. I wish that I could at least be with you, to hold your hand, look into your lovely eyes and say 'I love you'. Unfortunately, I am here trying to build a better future for you and our son. I say son because Ashika had a vision of our future. Of me coming home to you, and rushing into my arms after six or seven years of this war. This does not mean that I can rest easy and wait for this to be over. Nothing is ever written in stone and this may still turn sour. But rest assured, I will return home, I will not die. I love you, Alana, you make me stronger with each passing day without even realizing it. You are everything to me. Even though there is no gift enclosed in this envelope, I send all of my love. I hope that it shall be enough for you my dear. I promise I will rescue you soon and allow your family to live peacefully in the city once more.
I will never forget our each and every moment together. From when we first met to when we first told each other how we feel, to the first night that we ever made love. You have completed me, Alana. You have faith in me when no one else does. You have shown me there is love still in this world and you have proven to me that Humans are not to be arbitrarily hated.
